... what's going on in Zimbabwe these days: under the regime of Mr. Mugabe, the health system has now collapsed. The country is a living hell. What does Mugabe say about it? Not much other than “I will never, never, never surrender... Zimbabwe is mine.” A shame for the millions of people living under his rule. The current state of affairs has been sadly announced and it only surprises the world by the fast rate of decay.
Mugabe may well think he'll never never never leave. And he is right to think so: the military are still faithful (likely still being paid), neighboring countries are cowardly following the don't ask don't tell policy, the International community still invites him for summits while imposing sanctions that would make any ruler break down and give up power. This is no regular ruler, but a rather ruthless dictator. He clearly does not give a damn if the whole country dies. He cares for power, and power alone.
But Mugabe will die... like everybody else. I see two alternatives only: either he dies of old age (he's 84) if he has enough cash to support the tiny faithful microsystem of staff and military around him, while the rest of the country rots; or he doesn't die of old age but finds death sometime sooner. Accidentally or not. For the Zimbabweans, let's hope it's sooner than later.
