Numa sala perto de mim #261

Amadeus (1984) thirty years after it came out and for the first time on the big screen. A face off between the genius and the merely good that does not end well for either, all in the context of a royal court where what matters is not talent or art, but whatever the emperor likes. The last quote of the movie remains memorable when Salieri tells the priest he has been talking to for almost three hours:

I will speak for you, Father. I speak for all mediocrities in the world. I am their champion. I am their patron saint.

[he goes on, as he leaves the room wheelchaired through the asylum]

Mediocrities everywhere... I absolve you... I absolve you... I absolve you... I absolve you... I absolve you all!
