A Late Quartet (2012) tells the story of four musicians, who have been playing together for 25 years when life changing events make fragilities and repressed feelings emerge out of nowhere.
That's the story, not devoid of personal intrigue. Then there's the musical element where dedication, sometimes to the point of obsession, plays a central role on the road to the achievement of perfection. In music, perhaps more visibly than in other occupations, the use of a particular skill to the best of one's ability dictates the rank of the individual in the profession. Rank however, is not solely determined by ability (aka gift, skill, talent), but also by focus, commitment, will, discipline, passion, and whatever else words cannot define.
