Espantos #384

Frauline Maria comes down the stairs, leaves a note on the small table at the right hand side and rushes out of the house unseen while the edelweiss waltz plays in the background. The image darkens as the music goes to full blow and intermission emerges on the screen when the music ends.
This was the dialogue that ensued between a nearby mother and her two children (about 7 and 5):

5 year old child: oh, is it over?
mother: no this is the intermission.
5 year old child: what is the intermission?
7 year old child: an intermission is just the time when you can get up and walk around and maybe go to the bathroom before the movie starts again.
5 year old child: really, an intermission?
mother: that's right...
