The Lady in the Van (2016) reminds us that behind every homeless person there is a story, a life of surprising achievements and heavy disappointments, a human being with feelings and thoughts and hopes that justify their current situation... just like everyone else. Dame Maggie Smith shows the wide versatility of her acting skills and despite the obvious differences of class, appearance, and self consciousness, there are common traits with the Dowager Countess of Grantham.
