No Times de hoje #150

I've written more about Mugabe than I care to admit, so I won't indulge this time around. I simply want to mark today's inauguration that will add five more years to the 33 long seasons Mugabe has been chairing and ruining Zimbabwe's faith. Below, some unsurprising excerpts of today's article of the New York Times on the historical event.

"Robert Mugabe was sworn in as president of Zimbabwe on Thursday in a pomp-filled ceremony in the capital, Harare..."

"Observers from the African Union and the Southern African Development Community, a regional economic and trading bloc, also pointed out serious problems with the vote, but accepted the outcome."

"The Movement for Democratic Change had filed a legal challenge to the result in the country’s Constitutional Court, but withdrew it when the government refused to hand over voting materials and other evidence the opposition needed to prove its case."

"Indeed, the court decided to rule despite the withdrawal of the challenge, declaring on Tuesday that the election had been free and fair."

Já escrevi demais acerca de Mugabe, por isso hoje não vou por aí além. Apenas quero marcar a tomada de posse de hoje que somará cinco anos mais aos 33 longos invernos que Mugabe lidera e arruina o destino do Zimbabué.
