20 Feet from Stardom (2013) is a documentary about singers who never make it to the frontline of success, the background singers. A given amount of talent is necessary to make the cut, but from there progress is close to nil and their career is most likely a dead end. Some are quite comfortable with the role of embellishing somebody else's work, often making it absolutely memorable. Some reach successful achievements that never go by their name. Others aspire to a solo career, almost always in vain.
