The mere presence of such historically important works as “The Thinker” or “Mediterranean,” Aristide Maillol’s life-size female nude in marble, anywhere outside the Paris museums they call home is rather miraculous — and a testament to the cachet that Spain’s private and corporate cultural foundations have in the international art world. The exhibition was co-organized with the Musée d’Orsay and was shown there this past spring.
