Brooklyn (2015), nominated for best picture*, tells the early 1950s story of a young Irish emigrant in Brooklyn. A reluctant departure from Ireland results in homesickness and a difficult adjustment to work and home life, but things start turning up and stabilize. An unexpected return puts all in a different perspective, once the idealized view of home is within reach.
