From a friend who grew up in an Israeli kibbutz:


...No, in general they didn't separate boys from girls. But, I have to say that I remember when, at the age of 8 or 9 (perhaps 10?), they separated boys and girls in the communal showers. There were some holes in the wall and we were all trying to take a peek at the girls shower... we were never interested before when we all showered together, and suddenly they separate us and curiosity came in :D
