Grass is Greener
Sara Cruz
Sara Cruz
I might start to believe it
I’ve always wondered what was best
To be brave or just to let it rest
When the anger starts to creep in
You’re doing things you don’t believe in
But when you stop to think, you realize
You only do it to get even
But the grass is always greener if it rains
Sometimes all you can do it watch it pour
You swear the devil must be playin games
But the grass is always greener if it rains
Used to think when I got older
No weight would sit on my shoulders
And even though it’s not an unbearable lot,
It just looks different than I thought
I see my parents now and wonder
Who they were when they were younger
Was 2007 hard on them too
Or was it just my point of view?
But the grass is always greener if it rains
Sometimes all you can do it watch it pour
You swear the devil must be playin games
But the grass is always greener if it rains

Sins of the Fathers
by Mark Vinz
My daughter wants the car tonight, no,
needs the car tonight—to go somewhere,
to do some things, you know, be back
before it gets too late, of course,
if I say so, which I always do,
of course. I trust her—it's the others
I don't trust, the others I worry about,
and round we go again.
Headlights pass the driveway—
I study every shadow on the wall,
each voice from the dark street,
and laughter—faint, familiar
laughter, rising and falling
on every breath of wind.

Such is the world we live in...
no wonder... from a young age everyone is a little spoiled princess/prince
the notion of imperative success dumps any learning about failure.

Her Sweet Deceit
by James Laughlin
Love has many joys
and best are the
surprises as when
you changed the col-
or of your hair to
make me think you
were someone else
not that you fooled
me with your sweet
deceit I had only
to hear you laugh
to know both girls
were you & that I
loved you both alike.
