Stella Days (2011) tells the story of a small Irish town in the mid 1950s where a priest's efforts to set up a movie house may just be more modernity than the town can take, at a time when electricity is also arriving in town. Interestingly the church's hierarchy changes its mind once their objectives can be taken into account. The desire to open this remote place to a world out there clashes with the distrust of progress and the willingness to keep the populace under control.
