Coisas que não mudam #431

7 de Janeiro, o Natal Ortodoxo, vem sempre duas semanas depois do Natal ocidental. Este ano calhou a um domingo e coincidiu com a (nossa) liturgia dos Reis. 

Gostei do presépio simples (com figuras pequenas) da Igreja de Saint Joseph the Worker em Coventry onde chegaram hoje os reis magos. O cântico de entrada foi mesmo o conhecidíssimo The First Noel, tradicional cântico natalício inglês que descreve precisamente a visita dos reis magos à gruta da natividade. O cântico foi publicado pela primeira vez em 1823, devendo a sua origem ser bastante mais antiga, visto que Noel era a palavra usada em vez de Christmas pelo menos desde a dinastia Tudor (que começou em 1485) e até à restauração da monarquia inglesa (em 1660). Cantado ano após ano há pelo menos três séculos e meio... ouvem-se as vozes dos que cantam na pequena assembleia reunida naquela manhã fria de domingo de sol, e também se sentem as vozes das muitas gerações que o cantaram no passado.
