Today at Mount Hope cemetery in Rochester, NY the tombstone of Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) was covered with "I voted" stickers.
Anthony's pivotal role in the suffragist movement paved the way for women's voting rights with the approval of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1920, 14 years after her death and 48 years after she was arrested for the first time for attempting to vote.
Today's election puts a woman on the voting ballot for the first time. Regardless of the outcome, today's date will have a place in history books.
