Page Eight (2011) is a thriller involving British politics, the secret service, corruption, and dubious foreign military operations, all unfolding in the backdrop of London, the country side and the halls of Cambridge. A story well tied with excellent acting.

When you, that at this moment are to me
by Edna St. Vincent Millay
When you, that at this moment are to me
Dearer than words on paper, shall depart,
And be no more the warder of my heart,
Whereof again myself shall hold the key;
And be no more—what now you seem to be—
The sun, from which all excellences start
In a round nimbus, nor a broken dart
Of moonlight, even, splintered on the sea;
I shall remember only of this hour—
And weep somewhat, as now you see me weep—
The pathos of your love, that, like a flower,
Fearful of death yet amorous of sleep,
Droops for a moment and beholds, dismayed,
The wind whereon its petals shall be laid.

A Casa É Sua
Arnaldo Antunes
Não me falta cadeira
Arnaldo Antunes
Não me falta cadeira
Não me falta sofá
Só falta você sentada na sala
Só falta você estar
Não me falta parede
E nela uma porta pra você entrar
Não me falta tapete
Não me falta cama
Só falta você deitar
Não me falta o sol da manhã
Só falta você acordar
Pras janelas se abrirem pra mim
E o vento brincar no quintal
Embalando as flores do jardim
Balançando as cores no varal
Não me falta cozinha
Só falta a campainha tocar
Não me falta cachorro
Uivando só porque você não está
Parece até que está pedindo socorro
Como tudo aqui nesse lugar
Não me falta casa
Só falta ela ser um lar
Não me falta o tempo que passa
Só não dá mais pra tanto esperar
Para os pássaros voltarem a cantar
E a nuvem desenhar um coração flechado
Para o chão voltar a se deitar
E a chuva batucar no telhado
Não me falta parede
E nela uma porta pra você entrar
Não me falta tapete

Excerpts from “How to be Perfect”
by Ron Padgett
Get some sleep.
Eat an orange every morning.
Be friendly. It will help make you happy.
Hope for everything. Expect nothing.
Take care of things close to home first. Straighten up your room
before you save the world. Then save the world.
Be nice to people before they have a chance to behave badly.
Don’t stay angry about anything for more than a week, but don’t
forget what made you angry. Hold your anger out at arm’s length
and look at it, as if it were a glass ball. Then add it to your glass
ball collection.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Do not spend too much time with large groups of people.
Plan your day so you never have to rush.
Show your appreciation to people who do things for you, even if
you have paid them, even if they do favors you don’t want.
After dinner, wash the dishes.
Calm down.
Don’t expect your children to love you, so they can, if they want
to.
Don’t be too self-critical or too self-congratulatory.
Don’t think that progress exists. It doesn’t.
Imagine what you would like to see happen, and then don’t do
anything to make it impossible.
Forgive your country every once in a while. If that is not
possible, go to another one.
If you feel tired, rest.
Don’t be depressed about growing older. It will make you feel
even older. Which is depressing.
Do one thing at a time.
If you burn your finger, put ice on it immediately. If you bang
your finger with a hammer, hold your hand in the air for 20
minutes. you will be surprised by the curative powers of ice and
gravity.
Do not inhale smoke.
Take a deep breath.
Do not smart off to a policeman.
Be good.
Be honest with yourself, diplomatic with others.
Do not go crazy a lot. It’s a waste of time.
Drink plenty of water. When asked what you would like to
drink, say, “Water, please.”
Take out the trash.
Love life.
Use exact change.
When there’s shooting in the street, don’t go near the window.

Si yo fuera Maradona frente a cualquier portería
Si yo fuera Maradona nunca me equivocaría
Si yo fuera Maradona frente a cualquier porquería
Nunca me equivocaría

Elegy for a Broken Machine
by Patrick Phillips
My father was trying
to fix something
and I sat there just watching,
like I used to,
whenever something
went wrong.
I kept asking where he’d been,
until he put down a wrench
and said Listen:
dying’s just something
that happens sometimes.
Who knows
where that kind of dream comes from?
Why some things
vanish, and some
just keep going forever?
Like that look on his face
when he’d stare off at something
I could never make out
in the murky garage,
his ear pressed
to whatever it was
that had died—
his eyes listening for something
so deep inside it, I thought
even the silence,
if you listened,
meant something.

Joni Mitchell
"I am as constant as a northern star"
And I said, "Constantly in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar"
On the back of a cartoon coaster
In the blue TV screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh, Canada
With your face sketched on it twice
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling
And I would still be on my feet
Oh, I would still be on my feet
Oh, I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I'm frightened by the devil
And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
I remember that time you told me
You said, "Love is touching souls"
Surely you touched mine
'Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds
And she said, "Go to him, stay with him if you can
But be prepared to bleed"
Oh, but you are in my blood
You're my holy wine
You're so bitter
Bitter and so sweet
Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet

Ontem
Carlos Drumond de Andrade
Até hoje perplexo
ante o que murchou
e não eram pétalas.
De como este banco
não reteve forma,
cor ou lembrança.
Nem esta árvore
balança o galho
que balançava.
Tudo foi breve
e definitivo.
Eis está gravado
não no ar, em mim,
que por minha vez,
escrevo, dissipo.
