Verão
The Gift

Um Verão, um simples Verão
Poemas, curtas prosas que guardei
Cá dentro a paz, o amor
Lá fora um grito, a dor
Memórias que nem sempre me lembrei

Amanhã será bem melhor
Pulsa o peito num só tremor
Uso e cruzo algum desnorte, provo a sorte

Uso e cruzo algum desnorte, provo a sorte
Tento, invento, o amor

Amanhã será bem melhor
Pulsa o peito num só tremor
Uso e cruzo algum desnorte, provo a sorte

Uso e cruzo algum desnorte, provo a sorte

Uso e cruzo algum desnorte, provo a sorte

On the basis of sex (2018) shows how supreme court judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg became the most prominent gender discrimination lawyer in the 1970s. In a litigation world dominated by men, she fought to change laws that no one challenged because they upheld the tradition and norms in place throughout history. At a time when social change was already under way, Ginsburg was unconformed with legislation that did not reflect such change and prevented it from moving forward. Rather remarkable tenacity. On a side note, Felicity Jones has a knack for playing the role of wife of the sick man.

No one ever commanded a cat. You can shout at a cat, and it may vanish through the window, or it may ignore you begin washing its tail, or it may stare at you in pained surprise. But it will never apologize, never promise not to do it again.

Numa sala perto de mim #402

The Old Man and the Gun (2018) it's an ode to the great Robert Redford, who plays a 75 year old classy bank robber that everybody likes: he is charming, polite, gentlemanly, and caring. Despite the topic, this is not a heist movie and all the action scenes happen off camera.

There are wonderful flashbacks of a young and handsome Redford, but the old one's smile captivates all the same. It may not be Robert Redford's last movie, but it feels like it.

This Skunk Anansie album was released in 1999... :-o!
You'll Follow me Down
Skunk Anansie

Survived, tonight, I may be going down,
Cause everything goes round too, tight, tonight,
And as, you watch me crawl, you stand for more.

And your panic stricken, blood will thicken up, tonight

Cause I don't want you, to forgive me,
You'll follow me down, you'll follow me down,
You'll follow me down

Survive tonight, (I see your) head's exposed,
So we shall kill, constructive might, it's right,
As your emotions fool you, (my) strong will rule,

And your panic stricken, blood will thicken up, tonight

Cause I don't want you, to forgive me,
You'll follow me down, you'll follow me down,
You'll follow me down

I won't feel restraint, watching you close sense down,
I can't compensate, that's more than I've got to give.

And your panic stricken, blood will thicken up, tonight

Cause I don't want you, to forgive me,
You'll follow me down, you'll follow me down,
You'll follow me down

Ecce Puer
by James Joyce

Of the dark past
A child is born.
With joy and grief
My heart is torn.

Calm in his cradle
The living lies.
May love and mercy
Unclose his eyes!

Young life is breathed
On the glass;
The world that was not
Comes to pass.

A child is sleeping:
An old man gone.
O, father forsaken,
Forgive your son!

a urgência do hospital
as ambulâncias
e sempre, a decrepitude.

This song reminded me of little Rolfie longing for the outdoors.
___________

Bing Crosby & the Andrews Sisters
Music by Cole Porter & Lyrics by Robert Fletcher

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above
Don't fence me in
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love
Don't fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please
Don't fence me in

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies
Don't fence me in
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love
Don't fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please
Don't fence me in

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise
Ba boo ba ba boo

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in
No
Poppa, don't you fence me in

No mínimo desconcertante.
